Anantapur Seva Activity

November 16th, 2006

On the morning of 16th of November, 2006, as a part of Bhagawan’s 81st Birthday Celebrations, the Anantapur Campus made a humble offering of their love and devotion to Bhagawan – in the form of 81 bicycles for deserving girl-students. This Social Service Programme was followed by a display on the Brass Band by the girl-students of Bhagawan’s Institute.

A set of 81 girls were selected – irrespective of caste or religion - from various educational institutions in Anantapur - such as the Government Girls High School, the Guild of Service School, the PVKK College, the Sri Sathya Sai Junior College, etc., to be the recipients of Bhagawan’s Love.

Most of the girls are studying in the 8th and 9th Standard. Some are in the 11th, and a couple of them in the 12th Standard.

These students though they come from severely challenged economic background, have an ardent desire to come up in life. Therefore, they walk long distances as much as 8 – 15 kms to their schools and back everyday.

A physically challenged girl studying in the 8th Standard of the Govt. Girls High School was given a wheelchair.

After the distribution of the bicycles was over, the Brass Band of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Anantapur Campus gave a performance.
