What's New

On this Christmas day when the world rejoices the advent of the messenger from the Greater Heaven, let's go back to the momentous Silent Night to recapitulate the wonderful moments that preceded the advent of Mother Mary's Bundle of Joy...Baby Jesus...a poem from Ms. Jullie Chaudhary.

Silent Night Holy Night…
All Is Calm All Is Bright…

Yeshu Pita Prabhu Tu,
Sai Ram Sai Ram…

Ask and it will be given to you;
Seek and you will find;
Knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives;
He who seeks finds;
And to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7,8

His story began before He was born,
Prior to creation’s dawn,
For in the beginning there was the word,
And the word was with God,
Jesus was the word,
On Earth He was Lord…

The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary,
She was pure and had found favour with the Lord, you see,
She would soon be enceinte and give birth,
Blessed would be Mother Earth,
To receive Jesus,
It was prophesised thus…

Mary was confused - though to Joseph she was betrothed,
As yet she was not wed,
But the angel did assure her,
It was the will of the Holy Spirit,
With which her womb and the world,
Would be magnificently lit…
The angel visited Joseph too,
Informing him about the divine baby that was due,
An immaculate conception, Mary was not to blame,
They were blessed by the Lord,
And Jesus would His name…

During this time there was by Caesar Augustus,
A decree for a world census,
All were asked to return to their city,
They had to flee,
Out of Nazareth, up from Galilee,
Went Joseph and Mary…

They reached Bethlehem,
The little town that forever history would claim,
There was no crib for a bed,
A manger was used for Jesus instead…

The angels announced the holy birth,
Watching over their flock were the shepherd,
The angels shone bright, with God’s light,
In fear the shepherds were ready to take flight,
But the angels did say – Christ our Lord is born,
Heralding for mankind a new dawn,
Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth, peace among men we invest…

The shepherds did visit the baby in awe,
Then came the wise men from afar,
Bringing gifts they followed His star,
Frankincense, gold and myrrh,
They came from the east to behold and admire…

King Herod of Judea was frightened for his throne,
For the Magi did make it known,
That the new king of the Jews had arrived,
Their words he knew could not be belied,
He ordered the massacre of all male children under two,
An angel warned Joseph and Egypt received its due,
They stayed there till Herod’s death,
After which they lived in Nazareth…

The child grew in strength and wisdom,
For He was to draw mankind into a new light and kingdom,
Jesus asked John the Baptist to baptize Him,
It is You who must baptize me, said John unto Him,
But John baptizes him all the same,
The one he had been preaching about,
Jesus was His name…
As He stepped out of the Jordan river, once baptized,
A voice rung out from the sky out of sight,
“This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased’’,
The Heavens opened up,
The Holy Spirit unto him was released…

Thirty years old was He when He began to teach,
“Come to Me over the water Peter,
Walk on the waves of the stormy sea,
I know your boat is frail and fragile, but believe in Me…”

The sea of existence though stormy,
He had come to set the boat of life free,
Faith and patience, Shraddha and Saburi,
A great compassionate heart had He…

He preached about service, sacrifice and humility,
Forgiveness and love for the friend as well as enemy,
Sermon on the Mount to His twelve disciples He did give,
And to the gathering He showed the right way to live -
If someone strikes you on one cheek,
Turn to him the other cheek too,
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,
Judge not, lest you be judged too…

The last Supper where Jesus did state that day,
One of His own would Him betray,
Then at the Garden of Gethsemane they went to pray,
Where Judas, one of His apostles, did a trap lay,
Identifying Him with a kiss, to soldiers who did Him arrest, Despair and misery for all followed next…

At Calvary or Golgotha they did Him crucify,
Even then for humanity was His cry,
“Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”,
What a great lesson for me and you,
It was the Son two thousand years ago,
It is the Father now as we do know,
His life was His message then,
His life is His message now,
Immense is His grace that we know of Him somehow…

Once again a silent night and a holy night,
We live in the presence of a gloriously effulgent light,
Come to help us crossover the stormy sea,
Overcome, become set ourselves free,
A selfless giving and a love that has no end,
Tireless, timeless and true,
Enveloping me and you,
Patient and willing and ever so forgiving,
Reminding us that there is a Christ within us all,
The consciousness of Christ,
At the time of creation in our soul He did install,
His overwhelming compassion, awareness and courage too,
An everlasting inheritance nothing new…

So what is the Christmas season all about,
Let us think out aloud,
It’s the season to give,
Only then in the spirit of Christ, do we truly live,
To show that we care,
And share,
To spare a thought,
To reach out with all that we have got,
To those that have not,
To make the suffering of other beings our very own,
To be there for any creature that the world does disown,
To heal a lonely heart,
Knowing Christ is within and never apart…

Never forsake or feel forsaken,
For truly then are we mistaken,
For when we ask – Oh sweet Lord where are You?
The search is not ours alone, He awaits us too,
He is right there His arms open wide,
Within, without, around, beside,
With a dark halo of hair, dressed gracefully in orange hues,
Circling all of creation… me and you…
Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu…

One day at a time, sweet Jesus,
That’s all I am asking of You,
Help me today,
Show me the way,
To take one day at a time…
Yesterday has gone, sweet Lord,
Tomorrow may never be mine,
So help me today,
Show me the way,
To take one day at a time…
